LOBAMBA – National team, Sihlangu players are beaming with confidence ahead of the COSAFA Castle Cup.

Senior players in the squad have said they believe they could reach the finals of the annual tournament and even bring home the trophy and gold medals.

The trio of Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko, Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze and Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze, who were part of the team that left for Nairobi, Kenya for an international friendly tomorrow, said they have what it takes to go all the way in the tournament.
The COSAFA Cup starts this Sunday but Sihlangu will play Lesotho on May 3 in the quarter-finals. Sihlangu Captain Tony Tsabedze said they were ready for the challenge ahead as preparations were spot on.

“I believe in the team, especially because it comprises both senior and young players. We have all been working hard at training and are now focussed on the Kenya game as we wind up preparations for the COSAFA Castle Cup. Everything is in our hands,” he said.
Sihlangu’s best showing in the tournament, which is in its 20th year, was in 2015 when the squad reached the semi-finals and brought home bronze under Harris ‘Madze’ Bulunga.

Mbabane Highlanders captain, ‘Chocco’, said they will be going to Kenya and the COSAFA Cup motivated them by meeting one of the greatest players to play for English Premier League side Liverpool, Howard Gayle.
“I believe that this squad is capable of making it to the finals. The friendly against Kenya will also give us an idea of where we are in terms of standard but we are positive of doing well in the tournament. The spirit is high in the camp,” he said.
