MBABANE – Support us, we will give you E1.4 billion! This is the carrot being dangled by the Morocco 2026 World Cup Bid Committee to all African federations, including the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS).

Adding spice to an already ripe carrot is the fact that this cash payment is guaranteed. All what members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have to do is to vote for Morocco’s bid when FIFA’s Congress convenes in Russia next month.

FIFA is the Federation of International Football Associations. Jordanian website, Albawaba.com reports that all presidents of the African federations met Morocco’s Bidding Committee in Accra, Ghana on April 24, where they unanimously took the decision to back Morocco’s bid.

The Moroccans then assured the CAF affiliates of a minimum payment of US$6.1 billion.
This money, said the Moroccans, will be from TV rights and marketing. Converting this amount at the rate the US Dollar was trading against the South African rand yesterday, locally the total sum is a mouth-watering E76.56 billion to be shared between 54 federations.

The local currency, the Lilangeni is pegged to the rand and both trade at the same value.
NFAS’ President, Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa was chosen by the African Federations to speak on their behalf after the Accra meeting, and he said; “We have decided to support Morocco.
