MBABANE – A day before elections, netball teams are still playing their cards close to their chests.

The National Netball Association of Swaziland (NNAS) will go to the polls during an elective general assembly at OlympAfrica Sports Development Centre in Lobamba tomorrow, starting at 9am. While the deadline for submitting nominees was last Saturday, only three candidates had been forwarded by yesterday.

Apparently, some associations, it was gathered, opted to hold onto their nominees until the day of the election.
NNAS Acting Secretary Clifford Ngomane said only three candidates were submitted to his office by yesterday. They include Norma Dlamini, who is set to bounce back as president. Others are Gugulethu Dlamini and Roster Lukhele.

“We expected the nominees earlier. However, there is nothing wrong about submitting on the day of the elections.
“The meeting will no longer be held at Zakhele in Manzini,” said Ngomane. The outgoing Board is led by Mandisa Sigudla, who withdrew from the race for re-election.

Other members of the current executive committee include Vice President Vusi Khumalo and Secretary Simangele Motsa. They were elected in June 2014. At least seven members will come on board.
