MBABANE – Reigning sports junior woman of the year, Carlota Munave continues with her sterling performance in international tournaments.

The taekwondo artist won a gold medal during her international appearance in the Mozambique National Championships held over the weekend in Maputo.  Munave competes in the above 63kg category.

Others who performed exceptionally well include Nhlakanipho Gwebu and Thandolwethu Dlamini, who also both scooped gold medals in -62kg and -68kg respectively. Banele Ndzabandzaba won a silver medal while Ncobile Ginindza brought home a bronze medal.

Swaziland Taekwondo Association (STAss) Secretary Mbongeni ‘Ndo’ Sibandze confirmed the results. He said this was a good performance and it showed that the artists were working hard, certainly improving.

“The performance was good, especially for junior artist Nhlakanipho Gwebu, who missed out in the World Junior Championships. The Mozambique championships assisted her as she is preparing for the ANOCA games,” he said. Sibandze said senior artists including Munave, also failed to attend the African Championships.
He said the seniors used the championships in Mozambique to prepare for the STAss Senior Open Championships billed for month end.
