KONTSHINGILA – Disgruntled sons of the late FA Executive Committee member Philip ‘Big Daddy’ Dlamini caused a mini-drama at his funeral.

The children, who the late football administrator sired outside wedlock, wanted the funeral procession stopped early yesterday morning for the family to discuss why their names did not feature in the obituary of the deceased.

In fact, the drama was triggered by the deceased’s uncle, identified as Samuel Dlamini, who notified the family about the grievance of ‘Big Daddy’s sons.

It was 4:20am when Samuel entered into the tent and politely asked Pastor Ndlovu of Worship Centre, to address the over 1 000 mourners who had gone to pay their last respects to the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) executive member.
“Can I say something here; his other children have sent me to address the mourners on a certain issue. But before that, let me first call them in. They are aggrieved about certain protocols, which need to be addressed before the burial process,” he said.

Even before he could finish speaking, one of the aggrieved sons interjected and said, “Mkhulu, asiketi lana kutotihlaza labantfwini, Lana sifuna kukhulunywe endlini kagogo hhayi lapha ethendeni, loosely translated; We have not come here for you to ridicule us in front of the mourners, we rather go discuss this matter in private,” said the unidentified son.

However, from the midst of the mourners emerged one Mfundo Dlamini, a brother to the late ‘Big Daddy’, who opposed the sons’ proposal for a family meeting before the funeral.
