MBABANE – Can Mbabane Highlanders supporters finally believe that they have found a solution to their problems?

New coach Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane has not only come in to steer the capital city giants to the right direction, but has unleashed two goal-scoring machines in Thabiso Mokenkoane and Mthobisi Mngomezulu. The duo has scored a staggering 15 goals in only six games. Eleven of those goals were scored in only four league games, with the rest scored in two SwaziBank Cup games for a scoring rate of 250 per cent. This further translates to the fact that the players are sure to provide at least 2 goals per game.

It is Mokenkoane’s record that has raised eyebrows, with the jersey number 7; scoring in all six games he has featured in since January 30 against Mbabane Midas City when he, alongside Mthobisi, scored a brace. In six games, he has netted three braces with Mngomezulu managing two brace in all competitions.

Former AmaTuks’ 27-year-old,  Mokenkoane, is currently the main man for South Africa’s coach Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane together with Mngomezulu who are yet to lose a game in the Highlanders jersey so far.
Their contribution has not gone unnoticed at Highlanders as they are now fifth on the MTN Premier League log, with 34 points having started the season on a very low note. They have raked in 10 points out of a possible 12 in the four leagues games, contributing 11 goals.

Highlanders are facing rivals. Matsapha United in the SwaziBank Cup quarter-finals on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Mngomezulu, who is former Matsapha United forward, said they formed a telepathic understanding with Mokenkoane and said the support from other teammates has made it easier for him to settle in.
“We spend most of the time together either talking football or in PlayStation. It is good to be scoring goals now after a difficult time at Matsapha United and I hope to continue doing well for the betterment of the club. The supporters should rally behind us,” he said.  Mokenkoane preferred not to comment on his strike rate at the club when quizzed yesterday.

Coach Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane has also hailed the duo’s scoring rate and he was happy to have made the right call to bring Mthobisi, from Matsapha even when he was not scoring. “Thabiso I knew was a great finisher, and after watching Mthobisi I also realised he can do the business for us,” he said.

He was confident that the two players would be the answer to turning the club’s fortunes with their goal harvest.
“We can now concentrate on shutting the back door knowing that we will score goals on the opposite end of the field. We play the way we train and the whole team is now gelling,” he said.
He was echoed by skipper Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze, who said the team made the best signing with the duo.

“They are team players, hard workers and you will be surprised that they score goals even at training. We have now found the solution to our problems,” he said. The players are already drawing comparison with the yesteryears’ sharp-shooters like Nichodemus ‘Ace’ Mashwama, Mzwandile ‘Tito’ Mabuza and Lucky ‘Masomalenhle’ Dlamini, who scored goals for fun.

It remains to be seen though if they could push the high-scoring strike partnership of Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa and Sandile Hlatshwako which contributed over 30 goals in the league last season, when Mbabane Swallows finished unbeaten.
