MANZINI – The Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC) golf and darts teams were the best in the two-day Inter Power Games.

The two teams made sure that the trophies stay home for the weekend games that started on Good Friday through to Saturday.
There were four electricity companies from; Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland and Namibia.

The winners during the games were officially presented with medals at a glamorous prize presentation held at Mavuso Exhibition hall on Saturday evening.

Presenting the winners were Minister of Public Service Owen Nxumalo, who represented the Minister of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala who couldn’t make it to the event as he is away in the Commonwealth Games in Australia and SEC Managing Director Meshack Kunene.

Minister Owen Nxumalo said the country was proud to have hosted the visitors from the four countries.
“I was happy to learn that the Inter Power Games have been in existence, on annual basis since around 1982 and that they are still going strong. I was happy to further learn that the key objective of the games is to create a networking atmosphere for the employees of the various utilities so that they get to know each other better and also share some notes about areas of expertise,” he said.

“I am a firm believer in the adage ‘A healthy body breeds a healthy mind, which is why I fully support sporting activities for the numerous benefits that our bodies derive from being active. I would like to thank the respective companies for supporting the event, which is a sign that they are taking issues of employee wellness seriously,” he added.
