MBABANE – Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that takes.

This was the case as Mbabane Swallows fans who travelled to Zambia for the first leg match against Zanaco in the first leg of the CAF Champions League match, were given free entry on Sunday in the SwaziBank Cup.

Wife of the late Swallows Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze, Princess Lungile paid for the about 70 fans to get free entry.
The supporters travelled for 22 hours from Swaziland to Zambia, and the journey was not a bed of roses as they had to endure a six-hour wait at the Ngunguluza Border on their way to Zambia.
This was after the bus they were travelling in had difficulty crossing the Zambezi River aboard the offered boat and they had to spend six hours waiting.

About E2 800 was spent on the fans’ gate entry as each fan paid for the E40 entry fee in the SwaziBank double headers where Swallows were booted out of the tournament 0-1 by Green Mamba. Swallows General Manager Sandile Zwane said this was one way of appreciating the effort of the fans to stick with the team even during hard times. He said the presence of the fans in Zambia boosted the spirit of the players, leading to the win.“We are proud with our supporters as they always stick to the team.
“To show our appreciation for them, they were paid for the entry fee at Somhlolo on Sunday.

“Even the late chairman practised togetherness in the team and this is one way we are trying to show that the team will always be together no matter what,” he said. Zwane then urged their fans to continue with the good spirit of supporting the team even in tough times.
