MBABANE – Capital City giants Mbabane Highlanders Captain Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze has described coach Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane as the best thing to happen to the team.

Highlanders, who started the season at a low pace under Alou Badara, have since looked much better and improved with each passing game. On Sunday, they turned the tables against Green Mamba with a convincing 3-1 win to jump to seventh spot. They are also through to the Last 16 of the SwaziBank Cup where they face Mbabane City on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

“He is not just a coach but a father to us. He always motivates us and you can relay your problems to him and he will give you a solution that will make you a better person. As players we are all happy having him in the team and I hope even next season he will still be part of us,” he said.

Ngubane joined the players in a dance with the fans on Sunday after the victory and signalled to the supporters that the best is yet to come.
“He let us play our football the way we are comfortable with but he wants every player to be disciplined. Now our focus is to improve the MTN Premier League position and also try our best to be counted in the SwaziBank Cup,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said despite cruising to a 6-0 victory in the MTN Premier League against Mbabane City, Highlanders will approach the game with eyes wide open.

He said in a knockout tournament, form counts for nothing. He said they have to show respect and be at their best on the day. Highlanders play City at 1:30pm.
“They have regained their confidence after recording two wins and you cannot take them likely.

“We are going to work hard like we are preparing for a final as we want to make our fans happy. All the players are eager to work hard for the club and finish in a respectable position in the league and also perform in the SwaziBank Cup,” he said.
Sibandze said the new players who joined the club in the second window period have added value to the club.

They include exciting South African striker Thabiso Mokenkoane, who has netted two goals consecutively for the black and white side.
Another player who has upped his game since the arrival of Ngubane late last year is Zambian Michael Musonda who has now found the back of the net seven times in all competitions.
