MBABANE – Former Matsapha United coach Saul Chaminuka said he was forced out of the team by interference.

The two parties parted ways three days ago under unclear circumstances. While the team chose to play their cards close to their chest, the Zambia-born gaffer told a Zimbabwean publication, Chronicle, that he moved out because he could not see eye to eye with an unnamed member of the management committee.

“I have left and it’s healthy for the team because I couldn’t see myself working under the same roof with some of the members of the executive, due to persistent interference.
“The environment was no longer conducive. My departure must motivate the players instead of the reverse,” Chaminuka was quoted saying. The Zimbabwean publication went on to allege that Chaminuka chose to jump ship after repeated clashes with a member of the team’s management committee and fans.

When announcing Chaminuka’s departure on their official website on Tuesday, Matsapha announced that both parties reached an agreement to amicably part ways.
“As per contractual obligations, reasons for the decision remain confidential in respect to the employer-employee agreement, and anything outside this will remain mere speculation (and), thus will be treated as such by both parties,” Matsapha had posted.
Team CEO Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini said he was taken aback by the accusations and disassociated the teams from the meddling reports.
“The coach is entitled to his own opinion, but the interference reports are baseless,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dlamini assured that a new coach would be unveiled before the match-up with Manzini Wanderers at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday.
Chaminuka joined Matsapha in September 2016 and was in charge of 50 competitive matches, guiding the team to the Premier League and the SwaziBank Cup final in 2017. He leaves the team fifth on the league table.
The 3-2 wins over Tambuti FC and Tinyosi were his assignments for the club.
