Omunye phezukomunye….Omunye phezukomunye...”

Sangena Gazi singena nge-crossover song yema-Destruction Boyz and singena on a weekend just after Valentine’s Day. It was hip and happening ke Gazi ngalo-Valentine’s Day. We could not believe our eyes phela when we saw two members of the crew on a date le-town, baphetse ema-Roses and boxes of chocolate savele sabona kutsi uMdali sale abuya agocote yonkhe lentfo lena.

Phela we have always heard this two crew members telling everyone who cares to listen kutsi bona they don’t believe kulentfo yabo-Valentine’s Day. One of them even said yena he believes leli lilanga lema-Cheaters because you cannot go all out to impress umuntfu wakho just for one day.

We were shocked ke Gazi sesibabona le-Gables sebangena kubo-Ocean Basket with some little nyoninyoni’s langu-two dressed to kill, baphetse ema-gifts Gazi. Hhayi cha…siyamesaba lo-Valentine Gazi. Gazi, phela remember last week we promised you kutsi sitobuya nato tase-Maseru after we saw nine buses alifulatsela laka-Ngwane abange khona to the mountain kingdom and we were not shocked ngalesibuye nako.

Phela one of the buses Gazi was filled with nicely soused Swazis, the whole bus Gazi bewungatsi yase-Brewery ngendlela bekugcwele ngayo tjwala. The other kombi ke yona turned into a fast moving kissing castle as exchange of saliva at the backseat was the order of the day Gazi. Labanye nje Gazi bekungatsi bagwedlana lishashati. But ke Gazi, we were not shocked phela what happened after ‘Tinyoni’ recorded the impressive 4-2 win over le-Bantu FC. Impela it is true kutsi overexcitement can lead to disaster.

This was proven last Sunday night at the Maseru border in Lesotho, as Swazis and Mbabane Swallows fans travelled back to Swaziland after the exhilarating 4-2 win over that country’s Bantu FC.

The two sides had played earlier on the day in the first leg of the 2018 CAF Champions League preliminary round. As the queues swelled in the Basotho border, the excitement hugely conspicuous in the Swazi faces, one unsuspecting male fan who had a Maluti dumpy in hand (Maluti is Lesotho’s local beer brand like Sibebe here), was stunned when police pounced and took him away.

Just as this was happening, murmurs were the order of the day from the Swazi fans with some wondering if he would escape this or not. Others presumed it was about the drinking in public and were proven right when this reporter and other fans went to find out from the police.

Two officers were found talking to him just by their offices before one pulled him away to another office. “He’s gone now,” one fan said. However, the remaining officer who was being negotiated with asked everyone to calm down as they would not charge him. “Just let us do our job. We are aware he’s with the Swazi fans but you can’t go drinking in public. Do they allow it in Swaziland?

Lesotho is like SA, no public drinking and we hope that soon even being on the phone while driving becomes a crime, as it has killed so many lives,” said the police officer. He said the concerned fan would be released but they needed to explain clearly to him the consequences of doing such.

The interested group of fans opted to take what the officer was saying and went back to queuing. By the time the detained fan returned, nearly everyone in his kombi had crossed. Being the easy going character he is, the fan joked about it and said ‘it was a lesson’ worth learning and did not get off with his drink at Oshoek Border.
Hahahahaha ... we hope it is a lesson learnt bafo!
