SOCGA’S ZAKHELE TO LEAD TEAM SD TO ANOCA GAMES

LOBAMBA – SOCGA Board member Zakhele Dlamini is in Algeria, attending the ANOCA Youth Games Chef de Mission meeting.


The Taekwondo president will lead team Swaziland to the games slated for mid-year at the North African nation.
“The Chef de Mission for Swaziland Zakhele Dlamini left the country on Friday to attend the ANOCA Youth Games Chef de Mission Meeting to be held in Algeria. This meeting is to familiarise the Chef de Missions of African National Olympic Committees,’ of the arrangements and technical regulations for the games which are scheduled in Algiers from July 18-28, 2018,” said outgoing Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muriel Hofer.


A total of 32 sports will take part in the games namely; Athletics, Archery, Boxing, Basketball (3X3), Badminton, Beach volleyball, Canoe, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Rugby, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Wushu, Boules and Bowls, Speed Ball and Sambo.


The Swazi delegation is expected to be determined by the amount of funds available, with SOCGA set to fork out the chunk, with the rest coming from government through the Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC).
