MBABANE – What will come as a shock to teams interested in free agent Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie is news that he will be away for a year.

The former Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Sundowns forward has only less than a month to play locally before his departure to Glasgow Caledonian University in the United Kingdom where he is set to further his studies.

Christie was also away for four years between 2007 and 2011 while doing his studies at the University of Delaware in the United States of America (USA).

“I will be leaving on February 12 and spend a year away. It is still my wish to sign for a club before my departure but I am still considering some offers,” he said. Christie is set to sign for Matsapha United as he was training with the club while his contract case was going on. Some teams that have shown interest in his signature include Mbabane Citizens, Hub giants, Manzini Wanderers, and Mbabane Highlanders.

‘Dazza’ was declared a free urgent by the ad hoc Players Status Committee headed by Magistrate Siphosini Dlamini. The matter, which dragged for six months, saw Christie missing the first half of the season.
