ONE DAY I’LL WRITE A BOOK

MBABANE – It must have been the most difficult past six months for Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie, one of the brightest stars of his generation.

Training without a team, let alone game time but being registered with any team amid his ownership tug-of-war that is yet to be solved by the Football Association (FA) Players Status Committee can be very frustrating for any professional footballer whose only source of income is playing the game.

Before one finds himself in contempt, if there is any in the Players Status Committee, the former Sihlangu star, coy as he is on the matter, reckons maybe one day he will write a book for all that he has been through. Frustrated ‘Dazza’ has been forced to train on his own after his planned move to Matsapha United did not materialise, amid an ownership tug-of-war involving the player and his parent club Mbabane Swallows. After the expiry of his ‘loan’ stint at Manzini Sundowns, ‘Dazza’ wanted to make a move to ambitious Matsapha as he was of the view that he was contracted to no one, but not according to Swallows, at least as per submissions in this dragging case.

“If I were to say I miss playing, that will be an understatement. I was born with this thing and it is in my blood. As for the effects of this merry-go-round on my personal life and career, I’m not ready to talk about it yet. One day maybe I will write a book,” a clearly frustrated ‘Dazza’ said when pressed on his current situation. Needless to say, on his day, watching him is soothing to the soul and he is every defender’s nightmare with his trademark runs on the channels.
