MANKAYANE – They call him the ‘messiah’ of Othandweni Swallows.

That is former Red Lions star, Qiniso Shabangu who inspired Swallows to a 2-0 win over neighbour side Dondon during the MP Jele and Bucopho Enhlulweni knockout tournament.

Shabangu scored a brace to help his side to advance to the next stage of the E5000 annual tournament that was played on Monday at Komadi Sports Ground.
Shabangu said he was happy to flex his muscle since he was a free agent.

“Look, I am no longer at Red Lions so today I could not let the opportunity to showcase my skills during this tournament. Look I enjoyed myself here but there are teams in the elite league that are interested in my service so don’t be surprised if you see me bouncing back in elite football,” Shabangu said.

Shabangu joined Red Lions in 2012 and he finally parted ways with the Fairview based side in 2016. He once trained with Manzini Wanderers during preseason but failed to impress Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe..
In other results Hungry Lions managed to beat One Man 4-3 on penalties, while Seven Stars brushed aside Celtics 2-0 with Commandos hammering Scaca 4-0. Swallows won 2-0 against Dondon and Komadi Superstars beat Emazondo 2-0.
The finals are expected to play today where the winner will be handed E1 950 while runners-up will pocket E1 000 with third placed team entitled to E500.
