MATSAPHA – Captivating and saucy!

These are words which can describe the sterling performance by Lesotho’s Molemo Tsoeu and Lemohang Matli who scooped gold in the Pre- Championship Standard Ballroom Dance category. This was during the Christmas Dance held at IDM Hall on Saturday. Tsoeu and Matli who were the crowd favourites were a marvel to watch as they excelled in all the dance categories namely the waltz, quicksteps, rumba and samba. Local couple Basil Magongo and Shawtie Bhembe came second in this category and scooped a silver medal in this category. Tsoeu said they had prepared thoroughly ahead of the competition thus they excelled. Meanwhile, Swaziland’s own, Basil Mangongo and Shawtie Bhembe both agreed that it was passion and commitment.

Other couples from Lesotho who shone in different categories were William Nthejane and Thatho Majara in the championship category while in the Adult Ballroom Dance category S.Mbaka and P.Mohlominyane also scooped gold. There were over 80 couples who participated in the last dance of the year which was witnessed by over 100 dance lovers. The competition was divided into two sessions, the novice couples and elite couples .There couples were from Botswana, Lesotho and including local dancers. Swaziland Dance Sports Association PRO Sifiso Dlamini thanked all stakeholders who made the event a success. “The event could not have been a success without the support of the parents who did not only send out their children to partake but also came to witness the event. The future looks bright for the sport if we get massive attendance in the junior category. I also want to congratulate the international dancers who participated in this event, it is good for our local dancers because they get exposure and experience,” Dlamini said.
