LOBAMBA – Seasoned rider Rosie Everett was a rose that shone brighter during the national showjumping championships.

Yesterday marked the third and final leg of the national showjumping championships, which were coupled with the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Challenge. While riding Northlands Allure, Everett did not only celebrate perfect jumps in the international category, but was the adult novice champion,  as she negotiated  her way past the obstacles, which were up to 1.10 metres high, with relative ease.

Seasoned rider Kate Reilly, on the other hand, also maintained her cutting edge to be the named the adult advanced champion. While riding Swazi Lizkhar’s Lagos, she was expected to jump over obstacles that were up to 1.30 metres high.
Juniors also left a mark and they included 11-year-old Mikki Warr, who was the Pony Rider Medium champion. The class involved jumping over obstacles that were up to a metre high.

“I’ve been riding for three years and I train hard.
“I would like to thank my coach Jeanine van Wyk for the guidance,” she said.
Meanwhile, in the World Challenge category, Everett competed alongside the equally impressive Sue Elsey. They competed internationally without having to leave the country as it was the case in previous years. The competition is currently divided into 10 geographical zones.
The two riders will know their ranking after their results have been compared with their competitors from the other zones. Swaziland is in Zone Seven alongside Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mauritius.
