MBABANE – Ace golfer Nobuhle Dlamini has been presented with an opportunity to get herself an early Christmas present if she fires to the top in the Sun PinkStig Series finale.

The tournament, which has a E250 000 purse, takes centre stage from  December 4 until the next two days  at Sun City on the Gary Player and Lost City golf courses in neighbouring South Africa. The Lobamba-born golfer’s confidence levels will be sky high when she takes to the fairway after a spirited display in the curtain-raiser of the finale last month. She ranked second overall after firing an unmatched impressive score of 69 in the final round. Dlamini told this publication yesterday that she was caught between a rock and a hard place as she was not sure if she would eventually feature in the finale as it was clashing with another lined up tournament in Morocco. According to information sourced from various South African news sites, the tournament will be hosted by UniMedia together with its partners that have been promoting women’s professional golf.  UniMedia launched its first Women Professional Golf Association and Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT) sanctioned ‘Sun PinkStig Series’ in October at Parkview Golf Course in Johannesburg where Nicole Garcia prevailed ahead of Dlamini.

“Our vision with our PinkStig movement is to celebrate leading young aspiring female golfers, in both playing the game and inspiring other young female golfer amateurs to become professionals. “It is through our competitive initiatives that we will be able to close the gap between corporate engagement and the pro players, providing accessibility and growth into a new lifestyle brand,” UniMedia CEO Zahira Hans, was quoted saying. The tournament will provide a perfect platform for the gifted golfer to end the year on a high note following mixed fortunes on the greens. She missed the cut in Swaziland’s premier golf event, King’s Cup, over a month ago. However, her highlight for the year is making the top 10 in the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit.
