MBABANE – Premier League rookies, Vovovo are coach-less after Caleb Ngwenya was yesterday unveiled as Green Mamba’s new coach.

Ngwenya was unveiled before the Correctional Services side at 3pm yesterday and immediately started working. Our close sources said he was given a two-year contract to change the team’s misfortunes. Ngwenya takes over from former national team Sihlangu coach Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga, who lost his job last week after results did not impress management. “All I can confirm is that Caleb was unveiled as our new head coach at 3pm and he started work immediately,” said Green Mamba CEO Thami Phakathi. Phakathi asked not to get into the juicy details of the deal, save for confirming Ngwenya was their new coach. He only appealed for support from all stakeholders of the team as Ngwenya was the person given the duty to transform their club. Ngwenya also confirmed the latest developments last night.

“I wouldn’t like to say much right now but yes I’m at Green Mamba,” he said when questioned if he had not signed a contract with Vovovo. Instead, he asked to be given time before making a comment even on the new challenge at Green Mamba but conceded Vovovo was already aware of the developments. Ngwenya had helped Vovovo amass some valuable points since taking over at the start of the season, as he quit his long team as a coach, Midas Mbabane City who are currently without a point in nine games. Green Mamba have also had their shortcomings and currently in mid table. They played to a 2-all draw over the weekend with Moneni Pirates under the guidance of Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini, as Bulunga had already been relieved. Vovovo’s director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe confirmed the news as well.

“He’s gone and we met about it in the morning. It was a surprise but we wish him well as we believe Green Mamba are a bigger team,” he said. He said for now he would not talk of a replacement since this happened too fast. He wished Ngwenya well, saying it definitely was his work that got him the post. Bhembe also said if things go wrong for Ngwenya, Vovovo would always welcome him back as he was at home at the Motshane-based outfit.
