CAN ‘BULL’ GORE ALL THE WAY TO TOP 4?

MBABANE – It has not been a bad start really compared to last season’s mediocre performances that saw the country’s most successful club in history more often than not dilly-dally with the dreaded relegation chop.

Legend has it that statistics are like bikinis, what they reveal is suggestive but what they conceal is vital. A Mbabane Highlanders win tonight, when they play host to Tambuti, will push them within the top four bracket after nine MTN League games played. The statistics mean the ‘Black Bull’ is not far off after all despite that many pundits had written them off. Winning the ‘holy grail’ of Swazi football, the MTN League, can look a far-fetched dream considering that right now the black and white giants are 10 points behind table toppers Mbabane Swallows but seemingly, Malian coach Alou Badara was on point when he said it is too early to press the panic button.

But Badara knows that anything less than three points tonight against a Tambuti side that has blown hot and cold all season will throw his Highlanders future to uncertainty. The Malian is not only facing a wounded team here but his former side having helped them finish above Highlanders’ last campaign in the MTN log standings. Tambuti are coming from a 3-0 bashing at the hands of Young Buffaloes and will be eager to save their season with a win, only their third of the campaign to at least move to nine points.
