MBABANE – “We are concerned at the lack of good results.”
This was how incumbent Mbabane Highlanders chairperson of Directors, Zweli Jele summed up the situation at the club after Sunday’s 0-1 derby loss.

He said management has spoken strongly to both the technical bench headed by Alou Badara and players about what he termed as unsatisfactory performance in the league. The club is currently ninth in the 14-team league, with six points in four games, with a game in hand against Tambuti scheduled for next week Wednesday.

“The truth is that from management to players and even the coaching staff, we are all under pressure to deliver for the multitudes of supporters who are relentlessly behind the team. They don’t deserve what we are giving them in terms of results, and we have spoken to all stakeholders to up the game,” he said as matter of fact.

Jele was quick to dispel rumours linking the club with former coach Merk Mwase of Malawi. “We wanted him at the start of the season, but he turned us down. We are working with what we have, but as I have said, we can’t hide the fact that we are concerned at the current performance of the club,” he said.

Malian-born mentor Alou Badara when quizzed on the meeting with directors, did not want to comment, except to say that the club was still in line with it’s objectives after obtaining six out of possible 12 points. “We cannot press the panic button early in the season. I am not under pressure because I feel the team is still within the set target for the first round.
