MBABANE –  Out Dumisani ‘DU’ Makhanya; in Mlamuli ‘Sputla’ Zwane. With just only three games into the league, Red Lions have sacked their coach Dumsani ‘DU’ Makhanya, who has been in charge of the team since last season. ‘DU’, as he is affectionately known, was shown the exit door yesterday although there were not so clear reasons on why he was sacked.

Makhanya helped Amabhubesi Olwandle to avoid relegation, only to be given a boot in the early stages of the league. ‘DU’ out of the three games he played this season was unlucky, as he managed only one point out of a possible nine points.
In their opening league game, his side suffered a 4-0 humiliation against Manzini Sundowns. He managed a 1-all draw on his second game in charge with Matsapha United and his last game at the helm of the Manzini Fairview-based side, he lost 1-2 against Tambuti who have roped in Texan Phiri after Alou Badara sought greener pastures at Mbabane Highlanders.

Red Lions CEO Comfort Shongwe confirmed that they have made technical bench changes in the team.
“It is true that we have roped in Mlamuli ‘Sputla’ Zwane to help the team this season. The management felt Zwane was the right man for the job, more so because he was once with the team in the 2013/14, 2014/15 season where he helped us to gain promotion. This is like his second home and we hope he will deliver as per the management’s mandate,” Shongwe said.

Shongwe said they would be parading the likes of former Mbabane Swallows defender Talent Maphosa, Tambuti bulky striker Ugochukwe Ohakwe and Manzini Sundowns Delisa Hongwane, when they face Malanti Chiefs tomorrow night at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Zwane has been with Manzini Sundowns last seson but his contract with the ‘Kappa Boys’ was not renewed.
