MBABANE – Thank God he is alive. In one of the most complex head injuries and the first of its kind to be operated on a premier league player, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa is out of Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The game-a-goal Mbabane Swallows and Sihlangu striker has been in ICU for close to a week following an operation done by experts from South Africa.

‘Sikhali’ was injured during the traditional season opener, SwaziTelecom Charity Cup match against Mbabane Highlanders on August 6 and face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Swallows General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane had asked the nation to pray for the gangling forward in his weekly column with Times Sports.

Team doctor Samkeliso Mdluli confirmed the player was now in a stable condition after the successful operation but insisted that team boss Victor Gamedze and his management will release a comprehensive report today.

Zwane wrote on the club’s weekly column “his injury is not simple as we all thought.”
‘Sikhali’ who underwent a week-long trial stint with South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Supersport United during pre-season scored a remarkable 19 league goals in the previous campaign.

“His injury is not as simple as we all thought and we need your prayers at this time. We do hope he is under the best medical care and all he needs now is prayer from not just the Swallows family but the nation at large because we all know he is a national asset,” Zwane said.
Zwane also paid special tribute to long serving Mbabane Highlanders official Musa Masuku, who has constantly been checking the player’s progress in hospital.
