TONY, ‘SWAZI BOLT’, ‘KOKI’ FOR SPORTS AWARDS

EZULWINI  – “We cannot be in sports and not celebrate.” This how Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC) Chairman Lawrence Lolo Mthethwa said about the inaugural Swaziland National Sports Awards slated for October 28, 2017.

The outstanding athletes were nominated for their achievements between 2014 to 2016.


And during the official unveiling of the nominees yesterday at Gigis Restaurant at the Royal Swazi Spar Hotel, great names such as Sihlangu captain Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze, Muzi ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa and Linda Dlamini of Oyama Kyukoshin Karate headlined the list of the Sports Star of the Year Award nominees.


Others in the list are Phumlile Ndzinisa, Jabulisiwe Khathwane, Carol Preat, Mcebo Dludlu, Chawe Nzima, Phendulile Mavuso, Carlota Munave, Robin Young, Likhwa Manyatsi, Thandolwethu Motsa and Mfanawekhaya Dube. The winner of this category will be voted for by the public as soon as the organisers open the lines for voting. SNSRC CEO Darius Dlomo said they would announce the voting details today or latest, Monday. There will be 15 categories which include The Lifetime Achiever Award which will be presented on the night of the award by incumbent Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala. SNSRC Chairman Lawrence Mthethwa will also present two of his awards whose categories will be announced at next month’s event.


Mbabane Swallows coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, will contest William Kelly of Cycling and Muzi Mabuza of Athletics in the category for the Best Coach Award.
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) (Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu has been nominated alongside Phumlani ‘Kofi’ Ndwandwe and Mbusi Motsa for the Best Administrator of the Year.
