LOBAMBA – Artwell Dludlu appeared to have crafted a winning art for his new-look Mbabane Midas City, until they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to an uninspiring Malanti Chiefs.

The defeat was a stab in the heart for the man who has just filled the big boots of departed mentor Caleb Ngwenya. However, for Malanti Chiefs, if their performance yesterday is anything to go by, then they have a mountain to climb.

Come from behind they did but the MTN Premier League is not only about the title but surviving the axe as well. However, their jittery showing against a new-look Midas Mbabane City at Somhlolo National Stadium was not convincing, to say the least.

Two years since they were relegated, they kicked the ball for the first time in an elite match but were so close to a rude welcome.
Under coach Christopher Tembo, they started the league on a bad note but it’s still early days to write them off, but forewarned is forearmed.

Credit must go to Midas City who were convincing in the first half of the match with some patient football in spite of losing over a dozen of their key players to Mbabane Swallows, Royal Leopard and Vovovo, especially in the first half. This also includes their long-serving coach Caleb Ngwenya who went to Vovovo while director Polycarp Dlamini quit the club. They have themselves to blame for this defeat as after leading 2-0 early on, they returned a completely different side in the second half with inexperience their major downfall as they fielded only two players from last season in the starting line-up.
