NHLANGANO – Shiselweni II are Tinkhundla Football Tournament’s finest.

The side beat Mpolonjeni by 3-1 in yesterday’s decider at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium to become the last outfit standing in the 55-team tournament.
The games, which were played under the Shukuma banner, reached finality in style as the decider was a curtain-raiser for the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup play-off between Manzini Sundowns and Moneni Pirates. The latter won by 1-0.
Boasting the experience of National First Division newcomers, Mahlalini’s players, Celucolo Sibandze, Langa Bhembe and Mpendulo Magagula; the champions responded with two goals in 17 minutes following an earlier setback.

Mpolonjeni drew first blood as early as the 10th minute through Simphiwe Gamedze who looped the ball over the goalkeeper following a defensive mix-up. Parity was restored six minutes before the break after Bheka Ndzimandze floored Celimphilo Ngwenya in the box. Mfanafuthi Bhembe coolly converted the resultant spot kick.

Shiselweni II, who were buoyed by a home crowd, started the deciding half with renewed vigour and enjoyed a lead for the first time through Mandla Mngometulu before Mpendulo Magagula hit the last nail in the coffin on the stroke of full time.

The sound of the final whistle meant Shiselweni II would get a larger chunk from the E200 000 purse. They got E8 000 for being regional champions. The prize money for being national champions, according to a correspondence from the Swaziland National Sport and Recreation Council (SNSRC), will be confirmed before the end of the day.
