MBABANE – Up in arms Manzini Sundowns have all lost their first choice goalie Sandanezwe Mathabela who showed up at Mbabane Swallows’ first official training towards the new season.

Sundowns were in yesterday’s edition quoted taking a swipe at Swallows who they accused of influencing the player to not sign a new contract with them because they dangled good money to him.
Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa accused Swallows of foul play in the player’s matter saying after they loaned him to Swallows for the CAF Confederation Cup, Mathabela has been reluctant to negotiate new terms with the ‘Basop iKappa’ ensemble.

However, it appears to be his will to change camps as he still turned up at Swallows’ training instead of going to Sundowns. In response to the Sundowns’ accusations, Swallows’ General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane said it was unfortunate because they released the player along with the others they had been loaned.

Mathabela is also in the national team Sihlangu which is dominated by his most likely new home, Swallows’ players. However, no immediate comment could be obtained from the player who is set to provide cover for Swallows and Sihlangu first choice goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza.

He also spent the preseason with Swallows as he featured in the Ulundi Tournament last month.
