MBABANE – Can this be the season when the fallen ‘Black Bull’ finally regains its strength in local football?

This is the question in the mind of every football supporter, since the fall of the preseason, where the Mbabane Highlanders training ground has been a hive of great talent from prospective new signings by the capital city giants.
At least 10 new players have been heavily linked with the club to the point where a majority of them have been consistently training under the watchful eye of new coach Alou Badara at the Ezulwini Sports Ground.
From Mfanufikile ‘Fash’ Ndzimandze, Gabriel Goshen, Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule, Mbongeni Motsa, Mphikeleli ‘Rabo’ Dlamini, Charles Musonda and Mpendulo Ngidi, the list is endless.

All these ‘stars have no doubt brought back that intimidating aura that used to define the 14 times league champions. There is also Bongani ‘Chicken’ Sibandze and  Moneni Pirates skipper Mncedisi Dlamini, who his team announced last Saturday that he has resigned with the intentions of joining Highlanders. There are also reports linking former Royal Leopard tantalising left winger Mduduzi ‘Juries’ Gama with the club.
For a team that shipped in 38 goals in 22 league games last season, the acquisition of two goalkeepers to give Sidumo Vilakati competition and the possible signing of Mncedisi Dlamini and Bhekinkhosi Mlotsa could help shore up their defence. The club would have to make sure it ties down the trusted Sibusiso Dlamini to complete a strong defence which is key in championship chasing sides.

‘Goshen’, ‘Chicken’, ‘Mlaba’ are good acquisitions in midfield that was devoid of any creativity.
And the striking duo of Charles Musonda and Fash would be what the doctor has ordered for the club as they geared up for month-end’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup.
Skipper Xolani Chocco Sibandze, who boldly asserted after the relegation that the club needed to bring quality players to regain its place among the best in the league, was all smiles as he marvelled at the depth in quality at the team.
“The competition in every department, from goalkeeping, is healthy. Now we can compete with this team,” he said when quizzed yesterday.

He was echoing what coach Alou Badara said two weeks ago that he was looking at having a competitive team this season.
The club PRO, Paul Magidzeludzakeni Masilela, said while he had not been officially briefed on the latest regarding new signings, the future looked bright though.
He said his prayer was to see all the players being signed then people will see a different Highlanders.
