LOBAMBA – Sihlangu assistant coach Anthony Mdluli has described Phephisani Msibi and Khanyakwezwe Shabalala as future Sihlangu goalkeepers.

The Royal Leopard and Matsapha United shot-stoppers respectively are currently in the Sihlangu fold but are down in the pecking order. Definitely with age on their side, Mdluli is adamant the duo will be top of the pinnacle.

“Phephisani is a future prospect and Khanyakwezwe of Matsapha too. They are good goalkeepers for the future but we still have Sandile (Ginindza), Sandanezwe (Mathabela) and Sidumo (Vilakati) who are great goalkeepers and can only be perfect with the right goalkeeping coaching methods,” Mdluli said when asked to select the best five goalkeepers in the country currently.

“If you can study closely, the past goalkeepers were better- that is the pool of Njabuliso (Simelane), ‘Rabo’ (Mphikeleli Dlamini) and Baraba (Sibusiso Mabuza). But the current crop is raw which needs perfection and it is an area every team must take seriously by identifying qualified goalkeeper coaches,” he added.
