ULUNDI – Age is just a number for veteran forward Siyabonga ‘Bhele’ Nomvethe.

At 39 years old, the former Udinese and Kaizer Chiefs striker demonstrated that he has not lost any of his predatory instincts, scoring in each half to send Mbabane Swallows packing in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup, in the semi final played yesterday here at Ulundi Stadium.
Nomvethe, who still runs like a 20-year-old converted from the spot a minute after the first quarter of an hour mark, though Sandanezwe Mathabela seemed to have got a fingertip on it. Siphamandla Mathenjwa had handled the ball in an attempted clearance under pressure from Mabhudi Khanyeza.

Felix Badenhorst levelled two minutes before half time.
Ndumiso ‘Tower’ Ndaba met a Tony Tsabedze free kick on the far post, hitting the upright with his shot with Felix at the perfect position to slide home from five yards out.
Like a thief in the still of the night, Nomvethe headed on the near post a corner from the impressive Ayabulela Konqobe to beat substitute goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza hands down. It proved a suicidal decision from Siyabonga Bhembe who led the team in the absence of head coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati. With obviously a penalty shootout on Bhembe’s mind, he sent ‘Nkomishi’ in for a rather impressive Sandanezwe with a minute of regulation time remaining. It proved costly, especially at this stage of the game when concentration levels need to be top notch. Nomvethe stole the win right at the death as Amazulu set a final showdown with fellow Premier Soccer League side Bloemfontein Celtics who had beaten Zululand Pick Team 1-0 in the first semi final.
