MBABANE – The PLS faces a stern test in as much as getting rid of patrons and elders in local football is concerned.

This is more so because Midas Mbabane City find itself on the brink of collapse following an announcement earlier this week by the team’s elder and purported owner after Reuben ‘Skwaya’ Gwebu Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula announced their Annual General Meeting (AGM) billed for today at Sigwaca House.

In that announcement, the highlight was that the club now had no directors as their two-year term of office has lapsed. Affected here is Polycarp Dlamini, who is also the club’s Chairman, according to FIFA, FA and PLS records. He is the recognised PLS Board of Governor while Magagula is in the PLS Executive Committee but not as City representative.

Things got more interesting yesterday morning when Magagula, who during the last PLS elections made it clear that City’s initial owner Gwebu left the club with him, spoke on national radio in the SBIS’ Sport Show disputing stories that their players in striker Simanga Shongwe and defender Ndumiso ‘Tower’ Ndaba were now as good as Mbabane Swallows players.

Contrary to the reports that the two star players have changed camps, Midas Mbabane City’s elder Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula has said none has been sold. Our sister newspaper, The Times of Swaziland, reported this week that ‘Tower’ had permanently joined Mbabane Swallows. Initially, he had been loaned out to Swallows for the duration of the Total CAF Confederation Cup which for them ended last Saturday.
Also, striker Simanga Shongwe, who is wanted by all the top teams being Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Highlanders, was yesterday reported to be as good as Swallows player too, meaning the red and white side beat its rivals to his signature. Swallows also confirmed he was one of the players in their transfer wish list.
