MBABANE – Following a dismal showing at the regional COSAFA Castle Cup, Pieter de Jongh has called upon nine Mbabane Swallows players to join camp.

The temperamental Dutch coach lamented the absence of what he ‘termed key players from Swallows’ during the ongoing COSAFA Cup where Sihlangu was knocked out by Zimbabwe despite getting a bye to join the tournament only in the quarterfinals.
The nation’s pride which is falling faster than the Lilangeni in the world FIFA rankings, went on to lose by a solitary goal to Namibia in the second string Plate Cup of the COSAFA.

The team returned home on Wednesday afternoon and were given a short-as-a-sneeze break to be with their families ahead of yet another camp, this time in preparation for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers. Sihlangu host Zambia’s ‘Chipolopolo’ next Sunday, July 16 at Somhlolo National Stadium with the return match a week later in Lusaka.

The Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) has already sent Swallows the corresponding letter from the Football Association alerting them to release the nine players for the camp to begin on Monday.

Swallows, whose players missed the COSAFA Castle Cup due to the side’s Total CAF Confederation Cup commitments, play their last game tomorrow away to South Africa’s Platinum Stars.
Swallows General Manager confirmed receiving the letter from the PLS.
The Swallows players will join the 20-men team which was on national duty in the COSAFA Cup.
