JUDOKA MASHUMI FOR IJF LEVEL 1 COACHING DIPLOMA
MBABANE – Judoka Mashumi Sihlongonyane is climbing higher in the sport after acquiring an International Judo Federations (IJF) level 1 Coaching Diploma.
IJF are now waiting for Sihlongonyane first aid certificate before they can issue the diploma. Sihlongonyane registered with IJF last year in April to take part in the course and he passed the theoretical part exams via the University of Hungary.
The Swaziland Judo Federation (SJF) Vice President Tertius Esterhuizen said Sihlongonyane attended the practice exams in Lusaka last year and he returned to Lusaka, Zambia last month where he successfully completed his practical examinations.
“The diploma will be a huge step forward for judo as the IJF and also the SJF has strict regulations regarding coaches in the country. All coaches must be at least a holder of a black belt in the country before they will be allowed to coach the sport,” he said.
Esterhuizen said coaches in the country need the minimum requirement of a level 1 coaching certificate. He said the federation congratulate Sihlongonyane on his great achievement.
Meanwhile, Esterhuizen announced that Ben Voetstoots Dlamini has resigned from the federation due to work commitment.
“We thank Dlamini for his contribution that he made to judo here in Swaziland. He served as secretary and as Vice President,” he said.
