PHOKENG – Former Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) Chairman Mangaliso Sihlongonyane is the new COSAFA Referees Committee Secretary.

Sihlongonyane is in the North-West as part of the Referees Committee doing duty for the 2017 COSAFA Castle Cup. He arrived on June 19 and will leave after the tournament ends on Sunday.
He confirmed his appointment by COSAFA in an interview yesterday, that he was part of the panel of the Referees Committee whose task was to assign and review performances by the match officials.
“I am honoured to be part of the panel and the knowledge I am garnering here will help in Swaziland as refereeing is an important element of the game,” he said. Commenting on the national team, Sihlangu’s performance, Sihlongonyane said the team played well and were unlucky to lose.

“We started poorly in the first-half but gradually improved in the second-half and when Felix scored I thought we are back in the game. But lapse in concentration in defence cost us. Otherwise the boys played well. Maybe if we had two or three Tony Tsabedze’s in the team,” Sihlongonyane jokingly said.
