MBABANE – As the national team returned to camp yesterday for the COSAFA Castle Cup next month, midfielder Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo is set to miss the tournament this year.

The Royal Leopard midfielder was missing from the camp yesterday and was spotted in the city. He confirmed he was not in camp due to a muscle injury he sustained way before the squad played its two international friendlies against Lesotho as Mavuso Sports Centre and Somhlolo National Stadium respectively.

Nxumalo did not play any part in these games but was still with the team as he still is even currently.
“The squad is aware I’m out with a muscle injury and it is one that will certainly keep me away from the COSAFA Cup. Problem is with muscle injuries doctors can give you two months to heal but this one needs more time than that otherwise I’d be risking,” he said.
He, however, confirmed that he had not been dropped from the squad even though he looked to request for withdrawal due to the injury.
National Football Association of Swaziland’s (NFAS) Media and Information Officer Muzi Radebe could not commit himself to commenting.

“I can only say the squad was back camp this morning (yesterday) with the coaches to continue with preparations for the COSAFA Castle Cup. Any other information can be readily available tomorrow (today) but for today nothing much can said,” he said.

Radebe had been asked on a number of issues regarding the squad’s camp and departure to Rustenburg, South Africa for their first match against unknown rivals for now until the drawn countries played the preliminary stages to produce opponents for seeded teams.
