MBABANE – A lone strike by TUT’s Tshepo ‘Africa’ Maodi handed them the Joma Cup trophy on Saturday afternoon at Mavuso Sports Centre, beating Mbombela in the finals.

Mbombela, despite featuring the country’s John ‘Junior Shisa’ Mdluli and Sihle Sukati, failed to match TUT. Both teams reached the finals after finishing top of their groups in the round robin.

They took home gold medals and a trophy for their achievement. TUT, who dominated in the awards, saw their coach Elliot Pule named coach of the tournament while the player of the tournament went to Themba Mnguni for TUT. Sharing the top goalscorer award were the trio of Ketlego Loke, Molupi Pheelo and Khulusa.

The tournament had six teams with four coming from South Africa and Lesotho. The teams were divided into two groups (A and B) and played in a round robin format with the winners of the groups qualifying for the finals.
The MC of the tournament Thulani Mthethwa thanked all the teams for the good behaviour. He said there was no violence reported and the games were played under the spirit of fair play.

Present during the game included Joma’s Mpho Mngomezulu, Jabu Lukhele and Jobie Motsa from The George Hotel.
