EX-SA DOWNS’ KATLEGO MPHELA FOR JOMA CUP

MBABANE - Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Katlego ‘Killer’ Mphela will be one of a litany of ex-soccer stars to feature in today’s fifth edition of the annual Joma Cup.


Mphela will be turning out for the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) social team in the tournament set to be staged at Mavuso Sports Centre, starting at 8am.
Joma Cup chief organiser Mpho Mngomezulu confirmed that the former Kaizer Chiefs striker was expected to arrive with the TUT social team last night, in time for the draw which was due to be conducted at The George Hotel last night.
“Mphela has confirmed he is coming with the TUT team and this is good for the tournament when we have players of his calibre. We invite people to come in numbers to the tournament and enjoy exciting football,” Mngomezulu said. 
Mngomezulu further highlighted that defending champions, Maxi’s Lifestyle social team will not be available for this year’s edition.


“Two more teams were due to confirm participation last night but eight teams are available for the tournament. Time factor is key as we have many games to play which will last one hour each,” he added.
TUT will also comprise of former SuperSport United player Themba Mnguni, Japie Motale and Shakes Sibeko. A team from Lesotho, Vintage Social club, will participate in the tournament for the first time.


Other teams expected to participate in the fifth edition of the tournament are namely, Witbank Spurs, Mbombela Masters, Dream Team, Mhlambanyatsi, Gree, MTN Swaziland and Manzini Sundowns.
