MBABANE – National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) presidential nominee, Mashumi Shongwe has declared himself a ‘dream football president’.

Shongwe, who had been banned from football activities by the country’s football mother body’s Appeals Board, is back in the race for the hot seat following a High Court’s decision to lift the one-year ban on Tuesday. He wasted no time in revealing his plans, which are headlined by what he termed not treating the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) as a man’s private office.

“Football people must not be silenced, but must be treated with love, dignity and respect.  Without them there is no football. Football must be the number one sport in the country through accountability.

“A president who is daring is here; Mashumi Shongwe,” said Shongwe.
In his proposal, Shongwe stressed that the country needed a strong president for the people and by the people.
In his manifesto, Shongwe stressed that the national team shall be owned by the affiliates and visibly seen by the brand and dignified set-up during games.

“We shall have regional super leagues, national sponsorship for leagues and a knockout tournament.
“Congress shall have travel and sitting allowances fit for delegates who are in football’s highest controlling body. Delegates or Assembly shall be the controlling body of all football structures, not rubber stamps and not to be idolised,” highlighted Shongwe. Referees, according to Shongwe, shall have retainer fees and allowances depending on the association and stakeholders economy, if he wins at the polls.
