MBABANE – The country’s athletic record holder in 200m and 100m Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa will intensify his preparation for competing in the IAAF World Championships for the third time by spending three weeks in Germany and Switzerland.

Matsenjwa, who returned home yesterday with his head held high from the CAA Southern African Regional Championships, where he set a new national record of 20:28 seconds from 21:61 seconds, will leave the country next Monday for Germany where he will spend two weeks in a training camp. The Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) athlete said he aims at clocking the qualifying time for the World Championships in 200m, which is 20:44 seconds despite clocking less than that in the championships.

In the 100m one had to at least finish in less than 10:03 seconds. The world championships are billed for London from August 4 to the 13th.

“I will now turn my attention to the Europe competitions camps in Germany and Switzerland, where I will spend about three weeks. The Europe competitions come just after two months away from the IAAF World Championships, where I hope to do much better,” he said.
The 28-year-old is currently without a coach but he is getting assistance from up-coming athletics coach Mbuso Mabaso. He is getting assistance from German expect Raulph Mouchbahani.

Matsenjwa’s recent good performance has seen him breaking the 200m record twice this year. He also broke the 100m record to 10:35 second from 10:38 seconds the time he clocked against in Harare, Zimbabwe. “I still believe that there is more that I can offer with hard work. Now there will be no time to rest as I have to work hard to achieve my goals in reaching the World Championships qualifying times.
