EZULWINI – Forewarned is forearmed.

Celebrated South African legend and Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Doctor ‘16V’ Khumalo has told Platinum Stars to expect a difficult game when they clash head-on with Mbabane Swallows this afternoon in a CAF Confederation Cup Group B match. Khumalo said he had noted massive improvement in local football compared to his last match in the country back in 2001, where he helped Kaizer Chiefs to a 1-0 win over Mbabane Highlanders in a CAF Champions League tie.

“Swallows are a good and organised team well run by their director, Victor (Gamedze). They are a team that is proving to be a force to be reckoned with, not only in the country but across the continent. I’ve watched them a couple of times in the SwaziBank finals and when we played them in the King’s Super Cup (2015) and they are a good and tactically sound side,” Khumalo said in an interview at Royal Villas, Ezulwini yesterday.
The retired star, who won bucketload of trophies with Chiefs and has countless national caps with South African national side, Bafana Bafana said Chiefs have played a few friendly games with Swallows before and that the locals have good individual players.

“Gamedze once offered his players to them before and among them were Anas (Mike Mohammed) and Talent (Maposa) and you could tell they were quality. Anas is currently doing well in the PSL (Premier Soccer League) and it shows how significantly the standard of football has grown here. Swazi teams are no longer pushovers,” Khumalo added.
He also said Somhlolo was a good stadium to play in, having played there a couple of times.
