MBABANE – Like a hard core criminal popular Mbabane Swallows supporter Linda ‘Sthawula’ Tsela yesterday arrived in court in leg irons.

When he arrived at the High Court yesterday he was escorted by two officers from His Majesty’s Correctional Services. His relatives, who had come to give him moral support, left the courtroom dejected after the court pronounced that the matter was being postponed.
The Crown yesterday indicated that it was opposing Tsela’s application to be admitted to bail pending review of his conviction and sentence.

Tsela briefly appeared before High Court Principal Judge Qinisile Mabuza and was remanded back in custody pending argument of his application.
The applicant (Tsela) made few submissions asking the court to consider converting the money he paid as bail to form part of his fine. The judge, however, told him that he would address him when the matter returns to court sometime this week.

Tsela wants the High Court to review and set aside the decision by Manzini-based Magistrate Mthokozisi Dlamini of sentencing him to three years and or a fine of E8 000 to a reasonable sentence or amount appropriate to his charge.

Pending the hearing of his application for review, the applicant (Tsela) further wants to be admitted to bail.
In his application filed under a certificate of urgency, Tsela argued that the sentence that was imposed by the magistrate induced a sense of shock.
