MANZINI – “The nature of the stab wounds and the fact that you stabbed the complainant twice and not once, demonstrated recklessness,”

These were the words of Magistrate Mthokozisi Dlamini yesterday at the Matsapha Circuit Court as he sentenced Mbabane Swallows popular fan, Linda ‘Sithawula’ Tsela.

The magistrate, during the sentencing, stated that the complainant, Mandla Shongwe (36), a Feeder at Crane Feeds, had informed the court during trial that he had not recovered from the serious injuries sustained when he was stabbed by Tsela.

“He further told the court that his job was threatened as a result of your actions. His health and also his physical being were also compromised after the incident. The nature of his stab wounds and the fact that you actually stabbed the complainant twice also proves that you were reckless in your actions.

“At 49 years you are too old to be behaving like young boys, you also acted irresponsibly, therefore, you must appreciate and know the consequences. The basis of your conduct does not carry any substance, why would you stab someone gruesomely over an issue related to soccer?” the magistrate wondered.

The magistrate stated that during trial, the complainant said he was enjoying Marula brew together with Tsela when the incident occurred.
