MBABANE – When your house is not in order for a long time and trophies are scarce for over 12 years then all of a sudden a messiah comes, you have to be relieved.

That is seemingly the situation at Wanderers, who also have the elders and patrons in existence if the team’s General Manager Patrick Gamedze’s comments are anything to go by.

“We haven’t had a formal communication with the elders but the PLS does its homework and on this one they just hit the right note. In fact, this is a FIFA requirement, which for us came through CAF and we even Timothy Shongwe who is a CAF Instructor, take us through the Club Licensing plus a course at Esibayeni Lodge. This is a professional move, which is where our football should be headed,” Gamedze said.

He said it was a good move which as Wanderers there was nothing they could do but adhere to be in line with the expected international football standards.

“These semi-professional standards are not working for us so it’s time we move away from it to have proper football structures. We need to have able directors who will sustain the club for years instead of months or a year. Even a clever coach cannot agree to a one-year contract because he does not know what kind of problems he will find in the club that may require more years,” Gamedze said.

He said local football should have long adhered to the CAF Club Licensing, which is clear about team’s leadership structure so the PLS was headed in the right direction.
