LOBAMBA – “Matsapha United are a good team but they were starting to develop a swollen head so we had to clip their wings.”

These were the words of Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF)Commander Sobantu Dlamini on Sunday after his troops brushed aside National First Division side Matsapha United 2-0 to claim the SwaziBank Cup at Somhlolo National Stadium.

“We had to do this for all the other teams that failed to beat Matsapha United. They are good but not better than us, we had to stop them today or else they would have thought they were the best thing in local football,” said a visibly happy Dlamini soon after he made a stop at the podium to pose with His Majesty King Mswati III and Young Buffaloes for a picture.

The army commander said he was proud of his troops for their splendid display.
“They fought like true soldiers and that is what we want from a team of this calibre. I commend the team for bringing the trophy home. It’s what we have been longing for all this time. We had a fantastic season and it was high time we cap it with silverware,” said Dlamini.
When asked if they were going to participate in Africa, Dlamini said they would definitely do so.

“They will partake in the continental tournament, which I believe if they do well they will get incentives. His Majesty has given them jobs through the army so they should not expect much from this prize money because it will come in handy in as far as travelling expenses is concerned,” said Dlamini.
