TABANKULU – Nigerian born Red Lions striker Solomon Oladele’s brace ensured that Amabhubesi got that much needed victory against Midas City.

This was during the MTN Premier League clash at Tambankulu Stadium on Sunday where a handful of fans watched the tightly contested encounter.

The win does not do much for Red Lions, only to boost their confidence in their campaign to escape the relegation zone.
Following Mbabane Highlanders’ 2-1 victory against Green Mamba, they remain one place above bottom-placed Manzini Sea Birds with only 18 points after 20 attempts.

They are tied with Tambuti, who lost 3-4 against MTN champions Mbabane Swallows at King Sobhuza Stadium on Sunday. However, Tambuti have a superior goal difference; this is why they are perched one place above Red Lions with the ‘Bull’ jumping to ninth spot with 19 points after 20 games.

Coming to the game it started on a high note with the hosts bossing ball possession and they eventually broke the deadlock when the game was 11 minutes old. Solomon broke through the opposition defenders on the right flank to unleash a ground shot that beat Machawe Mamba between the goalposts.

Just before half-time, City’s Zimbabwean-born midfielder Hloniphani Ndebele levelled matters. He received a through pass and finished off from close range to make it 1-1. Ndebele made a surprise appearance after he was arrested on Friday for stealing chocolate.
