RSP, CORRECTIONAL DOMINATE IN AAS ATHLETICS COMPETITIONS

MATSAPHA – The battle was between RSP and Correctional during the AAS Athletics competitions held at Matsapha Police College on Saturday.


Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) excelled in a number of races especially the short distances.
Mcebo Mkhaliphi was the winner in the 200 meters men’s race clocking at 21:70 seconds with Andile Lusenga from Correctional coming second at 22:20 seconds, while Siboniso Sihlongonyane from USDF came third at 23:09.
In the 200 metres women, It was RSP’s Siphesihle Dlamini who crossed the finished line at 27:30 seconds, while fellow teammate Lindelwa Gamedze followed second clocking at 28:40. Nombulelo Dlamini completed the top three brackets at 28:70.


Correctional’s Thandaza Zwane thrilled the over 200 attendants when he finished the 100 metres men’s race at a record 10:20 seconds and he was followed closely by teammate Sandile Khumalo in 10:50.
In the long distance, Umbufto Swaziland Defence Force (USDF) athletes excelled in both 5 000 metres men and women. In the women category, Nomvula Ntshalintjali managed to outrace RSP’s Samkeliso Tfwala. She clocked in at 19:209:80 minutes while the latter finished at 20:13:10 minutes.


Mcebo Mkhaliphi, who won the 200 metres race attributed his success on thorough training.
“I have been preparing the whole week and yes it paid off,” said Mkhaliphi.


Meanwhile, fellow teammate Siphesihle Dlamini said she was grateful for her superiors for giving them enough time to prepare ahead of this race.
“Without proper preparations I would have not succedded,”said Dlamini.
Correctional’s Thandaza Zwane said they helped him to gauge himself ahead of his international upcoming race. “On the 8th of this month I will be going to Pretoria for a one day race. I am happy with my performance today but there is room for improvement,” said Zwane.
