MBABANE – High flying Mbabane Swallows are soaring in the clubs’ world rankings ladder.

The ‘Birds’ were ranked 924 in the previous month but they have since climbed the ladder by nine places. They are now ranked 915.
Their CAF opponent AC Leopard are ranked 833.

This is according to clubworldranking.com, a Netherlands website that was founded in 2010. The statistics were released on Monday.
The ranking is based on weighted match results over the past 52 weeks.

Interestingly, the ‘Birds’ are still the only team in Swaziland which has ever appeared in the rankings.
The teams have increased from 973 to 999 this current month with Botswana’s Township Rollers at position 999.

Rollers compete in the same league with Orapa United which the Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati led outfit managed to beat on an aggregate score of 4-2 in the CAF Confederations Cup first round. Orapa does not appear in the rankings but only Rollers are recognised by this website.

Swallows recent CAF Confederation Cup opponents, Azam F.C are also not part of the 999 best teams in the world. The ‘Birds’ beat the Tanzanian side 3-1 on aggregate, winning 3-0 last Sunday after losing 0-1 away.
