MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows agile shot stopper, Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza’s contribution to the club’s unbeaten run has been rewarded.

The former Manzini Wanderers goalkeeper was named the MTN Premier League player of the month, January. Ginindza had only conceded seven goals in 16 games having achieved 11 clean sheets in the process.
“I’m happy to be receiving the award but my main target was to break William ‘Cool Cat’ Shongwe’s record of conceding six goals the whole season. He did that while he was with Manzini Wanderers and I wanted to achieve that with Swallows,” he said.

Ginindza said nothing is lost as he now aims to at least not concede more than 10 goals. He said while they were the uncrowned champions, they still want to make history by finishing the league unbeaten.
“It would be nice to finish the league with an unbeaten record and I believe our fans would love that. It is not over until the last game and we are still going to fight hard until the end. We are happy that we are already champions with about five games remaining but we are not going to relax and give away games,” he said.

Meanwhile, Young Buffaloes defender Siboniso Mamba was the best player of the month for February. “I’m happy that I was able to assist my team concede only 12 goals so far. Our target as a team now is to finish second. We were unlucky on Saturday as we lost to Red Lions. We are going to work hard for the second prize and we want to finish the season on a high note,” he said.
Both players were awarded with their E4 500 cheques yesterday by PLS Chief Operations Officer Pat Vilakati and MTN Swaziland Brand and Sponsorship Manager Fisiwe Vilane.
