MBABANE – PLS Executive Member Sicelo Mkhonta has praised coaches for their input in raising the standard of the game.

Mkhonta was speaking on behalf of PLS Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze yesterday during the launch of the SwaziBank under-20 tournament at the bank’s auditorium.

Mkhonta said the coaches’ tactical approach were tested during last Sunday’s double header pitting Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Sea Birds and Mbabane Swallows against Matsapha United.

“Sea Birds pressed Highlanders but their coach had other plans for them which led to the ‘Bull’ winning the match 1-0.The Swallows versus Matsapha game was a tough game such that their coaches had to change tactical plans. The situation was so tense that the weather changed and it rained but we are glad that the game played until to the very end,” said Mkhonta; a statement that provoked laughter among the audience.
The PLS executive member also encouraged the general public to open accounts with SwaziBank.

“This will help the bank to continue to sponsor both the senior and junior tournaments so it is of fundamental importance that we support the bank. We want to thank the media for promoting football and this is the reason we saw throngs of fans at Somhlolo National Stadium who came to witness if ‘Van Damme’ would be defeated,” added Mkhonta.

Meanwhile, PLS PRO Dumisani Sibandze, who was the MC, had the audience in stitches when he said ‘Van Damme’ was not dead but in a conscious state.
The bank pumped in E200 000 in the fourth edition of this developmental tournament which will kick off this Sunday at Manzini Club Stadium.
