MBABANE – After the shocking 2-1 victory over Mbabane Swallows on Sunday, Matsapha United are ready for any team in the SwaziBank Cup quarter-final draw.

The SwaziBank Cup draw is billed for next week. Matsapha United, who are trending under the tag of having killed ‘Van Damme’, said they were taking each game as it comes and they are ready for any opponents in the draw.
Matsapha acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini said winning against Swallows motivated them and now they were targeting reaching the finals of the tournament in their maiden season. He said they were not going to put the players under pressure, but will take each game at it comes.

“We came to the game against Swallows as underdogs and that helped us as we gave full concentration to our game as we had a good plan for them. Our plan of closing down their senior players worked wonders for us. At this stage of the tournament, there are no small or big teams,” he said.
Dlamini said the support they got from the about 8 000 fans at the stadium worked to their advantage.

“Thanks to the nation for coming out in numbers to the stadium and supporting us during the match against Swallows. Our fans were visible during the game and others joined us, which we appreciate,” he said.
Mbabane Highlanders fans joined Matsapha United as they supported them throughout the game. Dlamini visited Highlanders’ stand after the match to thank the fans and he was welcomed with a big round of applause.

The National First Division League side then urged their fans and others to continue showing support to SwaziBank by opening accounts. He then thanked the team’s directors, Matsapha Community, MC and the players for coming together and making sure that the team succeeds.

The eight teams that made it through to the quarter-finals include two from the National First Division; Matsapha United and Vovovo FC while the rest, Young Buffaloes, Midas City, Tambuti, Manzini Sundowns and Mbabane Highlanders are campaigning in the elite league.
